This list opens once enough members have ranked enough films for it to mean something. Keep a library going and it will be built partly out of yours.
Every member keeps a private library and ranks it by playing head-to-head matchups. This list combines those rankings — not the ratings themselves.
Ratings can't be compared between people: a 40-film library and a 2,000-film one produce completely different numbers for the same affection. So each member's list is converted to positions first, and it is the positions that get combined. One member is one ballot, however much they vote.
A film needs at least 5 members to have ranked it before it appears here, and new entries are pulled toward the middle until enough people have weighed in — which is why a film three people adore won't sit above one that two hundred people love.
This is a different list from the Face-Off standings, and they are meant to disagree. Those are single votes on a pair of films from anyone who wanders past. This is what people who keep a library actually think, once they've ranked it properly.
